Sauers Cares was interested in the mission of Simon’s Heart from the get-go — they provide education to prevent sudden cardiac arrest and death in children, teens, and young adults. Founder Darren and his wife, Phyllis, started Simon’s Heart after losing their son to a detectable heart condition, with the goal to ensure a future in which parents and communities don’t lose children to detectable and treatable heart conditions.
With lots of work and a strong foundation for partnership, Sauers Cares and Simon’s Heart were able to pull off one of only a few successful in-person 5K runs to help raise awareness about sudden cardiac arrest in youth. With 100 participants, the event ran smoothly and 100 percent of proceeds went to Simon’s Heart to further their initiatives.
We are working to set up more events along with Simon’s Heart, to further their mission of education and prevention of sudden cardiac arrest in youth.
